Mia is the main character so is obviously the most important to cast. For this role I would like someone who is an awesome actor. They need to be able to portray a happy, popular girl and then quickly shift to a troubled girl. I have considered my friend Sadie for this role because she is involved in a lot of films. Although she is great, I am not convinced she can portray the depressed teenager I am trying to convey. Knowing this is such a tough character to play, I have decided myself to be the best choice. I have the image in my head of what I want the film to portray, so i know exactly how to pull it off through my acting.

Alyssa is one of the friends at the locker. It is a small role but very important. This role will help show the popular friendly girl that Mia is. I think Sadie would in fact be great for this role. She dresses very modern and has a popular appearance.

Kate is another friend at the locker. I have a friend Sydney who could also be very beneficial to the film. She has a comforting personality and will look good up against Mia.

Bella is the last friend at the lockers. Sandy would be great for this role. I am very comfortable in front of all three of these girls, so the acting will be natural.

Emma is the little sister. My friend Sydney's little sister is an awesome choice. Sofia is very small and looks very young. She would be able to portray a little girl, while understanding my instructions. Her innocent look is perfect for this film.

The mom is a angry and frustrated character. She holds beer cans and is yelling loudly in the father's face. I for sure know that these characters need to be above 40 to really transport the message. Sadie's parents would be great. The mom, Mary Jo is very good at being loud and on the spot.

The dad is being conveyed as an alcoholic and bum. Although Craig is buff and keeps himself together, I am sure with some costume and messy hair he would work perfectly. Matt also has brown hair so will have more resemblance to Mia (me).

When my class watched Alisa and my midterm submission, they commented on many things that could be fixed or altered. The first one was the credits. They rolled for almost half of the film. To fix this, Alisa cut the credits in half, putting multiple names on each screen. Of course, this made the film shorter, causing the need to add more scenes.

Audience Engagement Exercise- The Hate U Give

The Hate U Give is 2018 movie with a emotional story targeting police brutality. The audience consisted of teen and people in their early 20's. The story was based on teens and targeted a very popular, controversial topic. Just like my film, the characters are teens and it portrays a everyday issues that teens face. While mine is focused on alcoholism, this movie is focused on racism. Both are frequently talked about issues. A intriguing trailer was released along with billboards. When a social media video ad would come across anyone, they would have been very interested because teens like to watch films calling out sensitive subjects. I would also create a trailer that would show the popular issue that I am trying to convey. Hopefully this would fascinate the youth. The movie was heavily talked about at mental health conventions, which increased the audience. I would bring my film/trailer to many mental health conventions to help promote my product.

My Target Audience

My ideal target audience for this film is middle, high, and college students. Both male and females between the ages of 13-20 will be able to relate to the "I am ok" act. I think my film would be appealing to my audience because it is a very common situation that many people have gone through. It is rare for a subject like this to be shed light on, and some students may be interested on how it is conveyed and presented. Due to this subject being so common and relatable, but so unlikely to be talked about, people can be drawn to the film. Also, youth that struggles with family issues, alcoholic figures, and depression may be appealed to this film as though they can relate to what the main character is feeling.
