The first two minutes of LOL includes introduction of the main character, Lola. It immediately includes opening credits of all the characters and director. A master shot included all of Lola's friends that have a significant role in the story line. An establishing shot made it clear that the characters were high school students who were very close friends. Many cut-aways were used, showing the different characters to add related material. Lola beings to have a voice over which sets the mood and shows her perspective. This also sets the story line of a teenage girl having troubles. The costume and make up really emphasized the "high school" look, using ripped jeans, mascara, etc. The movie's budget was $11 million and made a total of $10.4 million. LOL was not nominated for any awards.

The Last Song starts off with the father writing a letter to his daughter about his divorce. This gives background of the story line. The story quickly develops into the daughter staying with her dad for the summer. Dialogue makes it very clear that she is not to happy with the situation and the dad does not know her too well. An establishing shot shows that the house is on a beach in a rural area. An over shoulder also shows the daughter playing piano to give background of her talents and who she is. Cross-cutting is used to show two characters doing different actions at once (she gets out of the car while the dad frantically gets the house ready). The costumes show the very relaxed, everyday characters. All characters in the film are featured in the opening credits as they are shown using inserts. The Last Song's budget was $20 million and made approximately $89,041,656. Although the film was nominated for many rewards including Teen Choice, it never won any.

The first two minutes of The Fault In Our Stars primarily introduces Hazel and her life living with a disease. It shows her going to a support group while talking over the scenes explaining her life story. The dialogue shows her input and mindset on her situation. Her mom's dialogue shows how supportive she is to Hazel. Many close-ups were used to show the oxygen bag Hazel has to carry around. An insert was used to show her using her breathing tube. Also, a cut away showed Hazel walking to her support group while her mom is in the back acting like Hazel is still young. This hints that her parents are very attached and scared to loose her to this disease. The first two minutes of cyberbully introduces the main character, Taylor. It immediately cuts to her using her laptop which is a very large part of the story line. The opening starts with an establishing shot showing the fast paced morning her and her mother go through. It cuts to multiple point-of-view shots to show the computer screen and the conversation she is having online. The conversation hints at online bullying by talking about their classmate's appearance. It also has a cut away shot to show Taylor's best friend, Samantha, getting ready while on the computer as well. Another editing technique used was an insert to show the computer. Dialogue was used to introduce Taylor's mother and her attitude towards her. Ambient sound was also used to show the realism of cooking breakfast and getting ready for school. The opening of Five Feet Apart was very intriguing. The main character, Stella, introduces herself through a vlog situation on the computer, which uses many close-ups. It starts off with Stella talking to the camera using direct address. Cutting was used to transfer from Stella talking to cleaning her room. A fair amount of dialogue was used by Stella to introduce the setting and plot. The production design of the hospital showed the audience the setting of the story that is about to happen. This sets the heavy, emotional mood as she talks about 'human touch'. An establishing shot was used to establish the hospital living situation.The opening scene includes Stella talking to the camera about not being able to have human touch. This clip belongs at the end but the producers put it at the front to walk the audience through the story. She continues to show the audience what her life is like living with Cystic Fibrosis.
